Trap-A-ware™ Steam Trap Sizing and Selection

Armstrong’s Trap-A-ware™ software helps simplify steam trap sizing, selection and documentation for applications ranging from basic systems to more complex steam projects. By entering key application details, users can determine condensate load, identify the recommended trap type and model, and select the appropriate orifice size.

The web-based tool also supports part number configuration, optional features and testing selections. Once a trap is configured, users can access supporting drawings, product literature and other technical documentation through Armstrong’s Configurator (C1). Regular online updates help keep the sizing and selection process current and accessible.

Steam Tracing Systems

Armstrong steam distribution and condensate collection manifolds provide a compact, centralized solution for steam tracing applications. Automatic Steam Quality Monitoring

Armstrong Steam QM® provides automatic steam quality monitoring for applications where steam condition, consistency and process reliability are critical. The system continuously evaluates key steam quality parameters without relying on traditional manual testing methods.

Steam QM® solutions can measure and communicate steam dryness fraction, superheat and the concentration of non-condensable gases, helping facilities better understand steam quality and identify conditions that may affect process performance. Applications include healthcare, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, culinary and other steam-intensive industries.

Steam Filters

Armstrong stainless steel steam filters are designed to remove contaminants from steam while maintaining high flow rates and low differential pressure. Strainers

Armstrong pipeline strainers help protect system components by removing debris and contaminants from steam, air, liquid and other process piping. Available in a range of sizes, materials and connection styles, these strainers can be matched to a variety of industrial piping requirements.

Armstrong Y-type strainers are available in cast iron, carbon steel, chrome-moly, forged steel, stainless steel and bronze, with screwed, socket-weld and flanged connections. Stainless steel T-type strainers are also available for applications requiring an alternative strainer configuration.

Air/Gas Vents

Armstrong air and gas vents are designed for automatic removal of air and other non-condensable gases from liquid and process systems. Float-type air/gas vents respond to changing flow and pressure conditions and are available for applications involving liquids with low specific gravity and pressures up to 2,700 psi (186 bar).

Common applications include hydronic heating systems, water lines, storage tanks, centrifugal pumps, gas lines, solvent filters and related equipment. A variety of sizes, end connections and construction materials are available to meet different system requirements.

Armstrong also offers thermostatic air vents for heat-transfer equipment where air can collect in remote areas. These vents help remove trapped air and non-condensable gases from equipment such as jacketed kettles, retorts, vulcanizers and jacketed sterilizers.

Liquid Drainers

Armstrong liquid drainers provide continuous, automatic removal of liquids from compressed air, gas and process systems without unnecessary loss of air or gas. Built to handle contaminants such as dirt, grit and oil, these drainers are designed for dependable operation with minimal adjustment and maintenance.

Also referred to as condensate drainers, compressed air drains, air traps, compressed air traps, float traps, water traps or dump valves, Armstrong liquid drainers are available for a wide range of industrial applications where reliable liquid removal is critical to system performance.

Radiator Products

Armstrong offers radiator products for steam and hot water heating systems in hotels, commercial buildings, schools, universities and other institutional facilities. The product range includes multiple sizes, body styles, connection types and construction materials to support a variety of building heating requirements.

Armstrong radiator products are designed for dependable performance across both standard and specialized applications, with technical support available to help address unusual system conditions, replacement needs and product selection.

Piston Valves

Armstrong piston valves provide dependable isolation for saturated steam, superheated steam and hot water systems. These full-port forged steel valves are designed for demanding high-pressure, high-temperature service, with operating capabilities up to 136 barg (1,973 psig) and 427°C (800°F).

A burnished piston and metal-reinforced graphite sealing rings help provide tight shutoff, long service life and reliable operation even after extended periods without actuation. Sealing components can also be replaced in-line to simplify maintenance and reduce system downtime.

Armstrong piston valves are available in sizes from 15 mm (1/2 in.) to 40 mm (1-1/2 in.), with socket weld, BSPT and NPT connections. Flanged configurations are available upon request, with options compatible with API, ASME, IBR and DIN standards.

Unfired Steam Generators

Armstrong Unfired Steam Generators (USGs) produce pressurized clean steam using boiler steam or high-temperature hot water as the energy source. These systems are commonly used in humidification, sterilization, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food processing and other applications that require a dependable source of clean steam.

Each Armstrong USG is engineered to balance steaming surface, coil capacity and control components with the application’s operating requirements. Integrated safety controls are designed to shut off both feed water and source steam during a power failure to help protect the system from over-pressure conditions.

Armstrong unfired steam generators are constructed and stamped in accordance with ASME requirements, with tanks registered with the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors. Units designed to generate steam at 50 psi (3.4 bar) or higher are 100% X-rayed in accordance with applicable ASME code requirements.

Armstrong Steam Harness

Armstrong Steam Harness is a fully integrated steam system package designed to deliver consistent steam quality, reliable performance and improved system efficiency. The package combines Armstrong steam equipment, controls and monitoring technology into a coordinated solution tailored to the requirements of the facility.

An integrated Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) provide real-time access to key operating parameters, giving plant teams greater visibility into steam system performance. Armstrong also provides mechanical and piping customization to configure each Steam Harness around the plant’s specific process, layout and operating needs.
